Cause and Effect

So I have become more strict about our morning schedule. Caroline goes to bed around 9 and wakes up between 8 and 9 in the morning. I know she needs 11 hours so I do not get her out of bed before 8, even if she wakes. I have found that she throws her blankie and sometimes her paci out of the crib for effect. Why wouldn't Mommy come and pick them up, right? Today, she woke up at 7 and again at 7:40 but I waited. I had to laugh when I went to get her after she awoke at 8:40. She had thrown not only blankie and paci but 2 socks and puppy. She must have been really desperate!

Luckily, she kept the other 3 emergency pacis in the crip or I might have heard more from her.

Shut the Door

Our favorite game of the last few days is shutting the door. Preferably in Mommy's face for best effect.

1. Get in position. Mommy is sitting outside the door.

2. Reach for the door.

3. Close the door while giggling.

4. Squeal as Mommy opens the door.

5. Look for more mischief:)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! I saw a lady dressed like cupid riding around town on her bike yesterday. She had hearts painted on her cheeks, red leotards, a cupid arrow, etc. It was quite a funny thing. Today I got a surprise card from Caroline (hidden in her diaper basket) and a much appreciated massage gift certificate. I think you know you needed it when you are moved to tears just by seeing the piece of paper! I also got extra free time after Jonathan got home from work. I am feeling very blessed indeed.

We wore our Valentine's pjs last night:)

We are taking Caroline out on our date tonight (as we did last year too). Can't wait...will have dessert at a favorite bakery, HotCakes.

February Fun

We've been having such a great week. Well, I've been having a great week. I had lunch or dinner with friends 3 times in the last 7 days so I am getting some much needed social time! The weather has been warmer so we have been to the playground and walking which makes it more fun too. Our normal outings include a Bible Study on Tuesdays, MOPS every other Thursday, Friday lunch is always out, and occasionally we help the UVA Child Psychology department by participating in studies. I think Caroline likes getting out as much as I do. She has given me her coat before and nodded when I asked her if she wanted to go outside!

New favorite game:

1. Put 'purse' on arm

2. Get car.


3. Leave. Quickly.

4. Turn around and make an entrance.

Caroline loves the kitchen...and her own cabinet.

Meanwhile, someone has taken over my computer chair.

Winter Trip

Caroline and I just got back from a visit to Florence. We had a great time despite a runny nose and a 3 hour layover in Atlanta. She waved at all the people as they got off the plane and got alot of attention on the planes. What a ham! I got to see several friends (and their children) and got to eat at all my favorite places. Next time I hope to make it to the park in Tuscumbia too.

Caroline is saying 'woof' and 'more' ...adding new words every week. Not sure others can understand but I am sure she will get better with practice. Her favorite things to do are to throw her toys/cup as hard as she can and to stand behind me for peekaboo. She loves to nod 'No' just before throwing her food down too. The toddler times are coming!

Eating is messy!
